The Spring 2012 issue of Exquisite Weddings Magazine just hit the stores and I eagerly picked up a copy to see the gorgeous photos by Studio Carré of the table-top shoot I worked on with two amazingly fabulous gals, Jessica Gillon (Events by Design) and Annette Gomez (Flowers by Annette Gomez). Love Paper Paint created all the paper elements, as well as some painted items.
Thanks to Jessica, this will be the fourth time my work has been published in this magazine as part of her tableaux features. Jessica usually comes up with a concept and color scheme and then contacts me to create coordinating printed (or painted) goods. Sometimes, it’s just a day or two before the shoot when we’re finalizing details. I do “my thing” based on the cues she’s given me and drop everything off to her the day of the shoot. Then I wait to see how everything comes together when I finally see the issue in print months later…it’s so exciting, since I have no idea what the rest of the table decor is going to look like! This time, Jessica asked if I’d like to help set up the shoot and I said “Yes!!!” without hesitation. I LOVE being behind the scenes and seeing what goes on to bring these visions to life. My favorite part of throwing any party (well, besides creating the invitations, of course!) is decorating and styling…and I knew it would be a blast (and a learning experience) to work alongside such talented industry professionals as Jessica and Annette.
For this tableau, Jessica described the look as a beachy-rustic meets vintage garden elegance, using soft blush and peach tones with gray and gold. The signature drink would be something with peach nectar and champagne. For the table name and drink menu, she suggested French names: “De La Mer” and “Juste Pêche”…and since the table would be set for six, the place cards would indicate a party for Jessica, Annette and I, and our husbands (we all coincidentally have “G” last names, so I couldn’t help but reference that we were “the fly G-6”). And with that information, Jessica just let me “run with it” and do what I do. Here are photos of the elements I created for the shoot; along with some photos I took with my iphone while we were setting up the tableau (hence the boxes in the background of one photo); followed by photos of the actual spread in the issue.
Big thanks to Jessica and Annette for letting me be a part of this, and to Studio Carré for capturing our lovely tableau so beautifully!
